Family of Middletown Fire needs your help
You remember the fire from a few weeks ago? The one on Knoll Side? What seemed to be only a roof, turned out to be the whole house. The fire started in the back on the deck (they suspect the ceiling fan.) Since, it started there, it tore open the whole backside of the house (not visible from the street) That left everything ruined.
This family (Peter and Maria, the parents, Jasmine - 12 yrs old, Danny - 8 yrs old, Patrick - 3, Michael - 2 and new born Peter - 5 months old) lost everything; clothing, shoes, toys, pictures, etc… Fortunately it was only material and not any of the family members or pets. But they really need this communities help. I have seen what this county has done in the time of need for others and it’s simply amazing. Donations are being accepted in ANY form. You can send your donations or drop them off with their neighbor; Debbie Reichelt, 9 Knoll Side Drive, Middletown, MD 21769. She said right now, gift cards for Wal-Mart & Target are the best since those stores have everything including clothes, shoes, linens, school stuff, etc. Of course, anything is appreciated and wonderful.
I listed the age of the children for you. Please donate age appropriate toys and school items. The family is staying in a hotel out of town right now close to the father’s work and family. They will be looking to rent in the area so their children can continue to go to Middletown schools this year. Their house is due to be torn down within the next few weeks.
They are every grateful for the outpouring of support they have received thus far…and certainly appreciate your continued support.
I want to thank Desiri Earle for providing the information and definitely Debbie Reichelt for accepting the donations. Please do what you can.

Recap of the Patty Pollatos FUNomenon Event

If you didn’t stop by to see the event…You missed out on meeting some of your past favorites from the Washington Redskins. The all day event had plenty to do for everyone. You had BINGO, Pony rides, games, face painting and more. On top of all the events and FREE FOOD there were tons of prizes You need to mark your calendars for next year’s event. OCTOBER 4th, 2008 at the Frederick County Fair Grounds.
This was the 2nd annual event for the Patty Pollatos Fund. If you are not familiar with what the Patty Pollatos Fund is all about you can read about it here. For the most part it is a 100% non-profit organization that gives it all back to the community. Debbie Williams leads up this organization and has helped multiple families in the area coping with the financial burden of medical cost. She is a dear friend that leads with her heart. Please contact her if you want to donate money or your time…both are always welcome. The FUNomenon was pulling raffle tickets every 6 minutes. The first prize was $50,000 (would have been $100,000 if there were more tickets sold.) We need your participation.
Anyways, back to this years event… Bands played all day long on stage. You can check out videos on Frederick.com right here. After that we were energized by the excitement of the J-Bar W Ranch Rodeo. Some of our area’s cowboys mounted some of the wildest bulls in the east. If you haven’t heard of Wild Cow Milking, you need to stop out J Bar W Ranch to see one of the craziest milking contest ever. The rodeo was finished off with some Mutton Bustin’ That’s where future Bull Riders mount sheep and hold on for dear life. To finish up the evening, we were graced by the presence of former Washington Redskins; Pat Fischer, Mark Moseley, Charles Mann, Art Monk and Joe Theismann. They finished up the days event with a ad-lib comedy act. They entertained us with stories about life in the locker rooms and the antics of the players. They stayed all evening until everyone in line had an autograph from each of them.
