A little tribute to one of my Childhood Icons

I learned yesterday that Evel Knievel had passed away yesterday. I grew up watching every daredevil stunt that he attempted. As kids we anticipated every network show he had scheduled. We just couldn’t wait. Then the next day, we would talk about it all day and re-enact the latest stunt. I had the little action figures and the motorcycles with ramps. I even had the bicycle with the red, white and blue markings just like his. We used to build ramps and jump off them…without bicycle helmets!!! There were claims that he had broke every bone in his body at least once…he was our hero. He was larger than life.
Life was so much simpler back then…kids of today just don’t even know
Rest in Peace.

We used to watch him when we were kids too. You have to appreciate someone who challenged us to believe that nothing is impossible. He lived life to its fullest.
I relate the way he lived his life to the famous line from the movie “Risky Business” – “Sometimes you have to say What the #%&@? “
I liked his convictions….like when he hit the guy with the baseball bat. He said he deserved it, so he did it. He said he’d do it again…if he deserved it.
LOL…so his convictions are a “hit” with you?
I watched him too but got disillusioned when he wanted to jump the Snake River. What a farce.
No Jay NOOO…he was not a farce!!! He He was larger than life…you’re crushing my childhood.
