Are Sign Spinners next in Frederick?

Maybe you caught this on Saturday…there was a performer hired to hold the sign to Catoctin Ridge Townhomes. The sign holder was Will Maxy (Sorry Will if I misspelled it, call me) He works for Pedestal-Events out of Baltimore. Cars passing by found him to be entertaining and showed their support by blowing horns. Now could this be a new trend on the Golden Mile? Stores seem to be hurting in this area for attention. You can see sign walkers on the weekends and occassionally in the evenings. City ordinance has restrictions against temporary signage. As a REALTOR®, I know that first hand about the signs. I have been fined for having my Sales Directional Signs out during the restricted time frame. We can only have our Open House and Sales Directional signs displayed 8 AM Saturday to 7 PM Sunday. It helps keep your neighborhoods clutter free. Anyways, here’s an example of what’s happening in California.

Fire Devastates New Glen Brook Homes

I don’t have all the details but from what I could see was two homes gone on Wagon Shed. There were fire trucks from every adjoining community and then some. Urbana, Fort Detrick, Boonsboro, Brunswick, Carroll Manor, Walkersville, Lovettsville and Fairplay were only a few that I noticed that came to support our local fire departments of Middletown and Braddock Heights. I didn’t see any medical personnel working on anyone (thank God). Here are pictures from the time I arrived.

Update: Two boys arrested last night. (11 and 12 years old)

Tired of all the Credit Card Junk mail?

I thought I would share a quick website that I find to be a great help. My mail box gets stuffed with junk mail all the time. I don’t mind some of it…I am glutton for punishment some of it I subscribe to by signing up for free catalogs. I don’t mind a Cabela’s or Sharper Image Catalog, but the ones that really rattle me are all the credit offers…grrrr. I get the refis from ABC Mortgage and 123 Mortgage… and then credit card offers from every known bank domestic and foreign. You can stop the madness!!! Just click on the OptOutPrescreen.com website and fill out the form. They claim to make it stop. Make sure you read all of the disclaimers before making the final decision. For me…when it’s time to go shopping for credit, I’ll go looking for it…at my convenience.

Frederick County Market reports are out

Here’s the latest housing report for Frederick MD. It shows another decrease in home sales for the month of June. Down by 31.7% over last year. Average days on market sit at 101 days. The average sales price dropped 9.1%. Majority of the sales remain to be under $400,000. Sellers need to know these numbers to help you understand today’s market. Some appraisers are saying we are experiencing a half of a percent to a full percent decrease in home values a month.
