Help Middletown Fire VictimsYou remember the fire from a few weeks ago? The one on Knoll Side? What seemed to be only a roof, turned out to be the whole house. The fire started in the back on the deck (they suspect the ceiling fan.) Since, it started there, it tore open the whole backside of the house (not visible from the street) That left everything ruined.

This family (Peter and Maria, the parents, Jasmine - 12 yrs old, Danny - 8 yrs old, Patrick - 3, Michael - 2 and new born Peter - 5 months old) lost everything; clothing, shoes, toys, pictures, etc… Fortunately it was only material and not any of the family members or pets. But they really need this communities help. I have seen what this county has done in the time of need for others and it’s simply amazing. Donations are being accepted in ANY form. You can send your donations or drop them off with their neighbor; Debbie Reichelt, 9 Knoll Side Drive, Middletown, MD 21769. She said right now, gift cards for Wal-Mart & Target are the best since those stores have everything including clothes, shoes, linens, school stuff, etc. Of course, anything is appreciated and wonderful.

I listed the age of the children for you. Please donate age appropriate toys and school items. The family is staying in a hotel out of town right now close to the father’s work and family. They will be looking to rent in the area so their children can continue to go to Middletown schools this year. Their house is due to be torn down within the next few weeks.

They are every grateful for the outpouring of support they have received thus far…and certainly appreciate your continued support.

I want to thank Desiri Earle for providing the information and definitely Debbie Reichelt for accepting the donations. Please do what you can.

Recap of the Patty Pollatos FUNomenon Event

The Redskins at Patty Pollatos Event

If you didn’t stop by to see the event…You missed out on meeting some of your past favorites from the Washington RedskinsThe all day event had plenty to do for everyone.  You had BINGO, Pony rides, games, face painting and more.   On top of all the events and FREE FOOD there were tons of prizes  You need to mark your calendars for next year’s event.  OCTOBER 4th, 2008 at the Frederick County Fair Grounds.

This was the 2nd annual event for the Patty Pollatos Fund.  If you are not familiar with what the Patty Pollatos Fund is all about you can read about it here.  For the most part it is a 100% non-profit organization that gives it all back to the community.  Debbie Williams leads up this organization and has helped multiple families in the area coping with the financial burden of medical cost.  She is a dear friend that leads with her heart.  Please contact her if you want to donate money or your time…both are always welcome.  The FUNomenon was pulling raffle tickets every 6 minutes.  The first prize was $50,000 (would have been $100,000 if there were more tickets sold.)  We need your participation.

Anyways, back to this years event…  Bands played all day long on stage.  You can check out videos on Frederick.com right here.  After that we were energized by the excitement of the J-Bar W Ranch Rodeo.  Some of our area’s cowboys mounted some of the wildest bulls in the east.  If you haven’t heard of Wild Cow Milking, you need to stop out J Bar W Ranch to see one of the craziest milking contest ever.  The rodeo was finished off with some Mutton Bustin’  That’s where future Bull Riders mount sheep and hold on for dear life.  To finish up the evening, we were graced by the presence of former Washington Redskins; Pat Fischer, Mark Moseley, Charles Mann, Art Monk and Joe Theismann.  They finished up the days event with a ad-lib comedy act.  They entertained us with stories about life in the locker rooms and the antics of the players.   They stayed all evening until everyone in line had an autograph from each of them.

The Market along Market Street and Carroll Creek

Down Town Real Estate Frederick MD

Let’s take a closer look at what’s going on downtown (pronounced dahn-tahn if you’re from Pittsburgh)  in Frederick MD Real Estate.  I was able to visit some open houses yesterday along Market Street and Carroll Creek.  So, today let’s look at some of the prices and product within a few blocks of this area.

My first stop was the Market Street Townhouses and condos on Market Street.  I was greeted by the sitting agent, John Callan.  He guided me through all of the homes that Rob Whalen of Real Estate Teams has for sale on Market Street.   These homes have been completely renovated and have luxorious touches throughout.  One private covered parking space is available with each unit.  You can purchase extra parking spaces at $12,500 each.  The townhomes are spacious in a sense that they are 4 and 5 floors.  Since the homes the homes are built in the historic district, they tend to be on the narrow side, however the make it up on the vertical side.   You will be pleased with the interiors.  The town homes are priced in the high $500s and the condos are in the mid $400s.

As I continued down Market Street in Historic Frederick, there was a sign out for another open house for Luxury Condos on Citizens Way…and luxurious they are.   We were taken on a guided tour of the 5th floor of Citizen Way.  These condos are market by Listing Agent/Owner Jim Bass of Real Estate Teams.  The condos are only the shells.  (additional cost of interior construction not added in the price)  You have to visualize what your builder will be able to do for you.  So you if you have the desire to start with a blank canvas…start here.  You have outstanding views of down town Frederick from each of these unit.  Some are less attractive than others…like views of the parking deck, but if you over look that you can see all of the spires.  This up and coming area will house the Who’s Who of Frederick MD.  The shells will cost you from the mid $600s to mid $700s.  You can figure your final cost around $800-1.1m.

It may seem tough to purchase condos in these price ranges, but as this area continues to grow and the popularity increases, the condo you feel is priced high will only become higher and you will increase your equity.

There are some lower priced homes in this area as well…grab ‘em while their still here.  Click the Link below to see a list of homes for sale in this area.

My son sent me this picture of my dog yesterday. It seems like they have been watching MTV and got bored. I couldn’t stop laughing at “My Dawg” He’s such a good sport. I decided to use the magic of PhotoShop Elements to change his scene… You probably won’t find it as funny as I do…but it’s Friday, maybe you will.

Just chillin Drinking a beer
